Tarn PK

Taking a step back from the chaotic world around to create music that felt personal, meaningful, and real was the aim of Tarn PK in his new collection of songs 'Monarch'.

Releasing his first EP in 2019, funk-pop single “Talk to You" gained playlist success on New Music Friday and reaching 170k plays. 2019 provided plentiful inspiration for new music but for some reason the creativity wasn’t flowing and it felt more forced and less exciting. Feeling swamped in synthesisers and electronics, all it took was picking up an acoustic guitar to inspire a new EP.

The other key was discovering new music, in the likes of 70’s songwriters; Joni Mitchell and Nick Drake. The aim became to make something which called back to these ideas but made in a way that felt modern, mixing natural instruments/elements, with modern production effects and techniques. Lyrically the ideas were focused on the experience of moving away from home, meeting his girlfriend and starting university. The subsequent indie folk/pop collection – “Monarch” was launched on October 23rd, 2020 with the first song “Serenity” – a ballad about the weight of the world coming off your shoulders.

"Sky is Falling", the second single from the "Monarch" collection was released on December 11th, 2020 - it seeks to evoke rolling hills and driving with the rain coming down the windows. It’s a song to support and to hopefully to ultimately offer uplift in some way to each listener. The third single "Indigo Dreaming' is coming out on 26th of February.
