Paper Plates Promote Mental Wellbeing Through New Music and Livestream

Paper Plates are an alt pop duo based in Wellington NZ. Focusing their music on capturing emotions through explosive build ups and immersive soundscapes, this dynamic duo will send you swirling into mood spaces swirling with synths, guitar swells and smoky vocals.

The duo released their debut single, Wait early last month, followed by their debut EP Playground Walls, a few weeks later. They describe Wait as being about coming to terms with your own self-worth and identity before being capable of giving your time and love to anyone or anything else. Essentially, it is about putting yourself first and allowing oneself to heal before trying to heal someone else. Their EP, Playground Walls, builds on this idea by highlighting the journey of embracing one's identity and sense of self-worth. Inspired by a 'stare at the ceiling' kind of day, the EP relates to mental wellbeing, break downs, relationships and all that makes humans, human.

On Wednesday October 23rd, Paper Plates is hosting a Live Studio Session Stream that will go live at 7pm on their Facebook page. The live stream will include immersive lighting, visuals, dancers and band to promote the Playground Walls EP and encourage identity and self-worth in the music industry and wider NZ community.

During Mental Health Awareness Week, Paper Plates launched a donation page to help raise funds for their Live Studio Session Stream, but the goal here is just to cover their costs, and any additional money made from the fundraiser will be donated to the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand. While access to the livestream is free, we encourage you to treat it as a night out and donate the money you would spend on tickets and drinks if this were a gig you would go out to attend.

This is a great band who are supporting an important cause and we encourage to check out their livestream tomorrow over on their Facebook page, and donate to their fundraiser. Also don’t forget to check out their EP Playground Walls on Spotify!
